Medications/ Psychotherapy
Medications can play a role in improving most mental health conditions. Some patients are treated with medication alone, while others are treated in combination with therapy or other treatments. Generally speaking, research shows that the most effective treatments for most mental health conditions involve a combination of medications and psychotherapy.
Medications/ Psychotherapy
SOWEGA Autism & Psychiatry provides medication management and is qualified to practice in both primary care, mental health and behavioral health. We provide medications across the lifespan; children, adolescents and adults. We pride ourselves on meeting and exceeding our patient’s expectations by utilizing evidenced-based integrative medications, which combines prescription medications, psychotherapy and a range of evidenced-based CAM (complementary and alternative) therapies.
Many factors influence mental health, each individual is to experience lasting and meaningful healing in different ways, not a one-size-fits-all approach. Since our well-being is made up of many interlocking parts, our approach is holistic.
Some of the practice expertise consist of (but not limited to) challenges of Autism Spectrum Disorders, attention/hyperactivity/impulse controls, behavioral challenges, mood encounters, internalizing concerns, psychotic disorganization, challenges of LGBTQ+, and minor medical conditions such as blood pressure, cholesterol, thyroid, and diabetes.
Highly purified natural products are now widely used to treat depressed mood and other mental health concerns. Omega-3 essential fatty acids derived from fish oil, kelp or flaxseed oil have beneficial effects at many levels in the body and brain and are commonly recommended to increase the beneficial effects of antidepressants, mood stabilizers, and other psychotropic medications.
We ask that you bring all medications to each visit in their original containers. This helps us to monitor your success with the medications and if there is any potential for adverse drug-drug interactions.
Together, we can “Bridge the Gap” through prevention and education to promote the well-being of each individual by embracing these conditions specialized by SOWEGA Autism & Psychiatry.
Psychotherapy
In recent years, significant advances have been made in the field of psychotherapy, which is sometimes referred to as talk therapy. By creating an empathetic and accepting atmosphere, the provider often is able to help the person identify the source of the problems and consider alternatives for dealing with them. The emotional awareness and insight that the person gains through psychotherapy often results in a change in attitude and behavior that allows the person to live a fuller and more satisfying life.
Psychotherapy is appropriate and effective in a wide range of conditions. Even people who do not have a mental health disorder may find psychotherapy helpful in coping with such problems as employment difficulties, bereavement, or chronic illness in the family.
SOWEGA Autism & Psychiatry will form strong therapeutic relationships with each individual across the lifespan-becoming familiar with your stories and challenges-to transform your lives in a positive way. We ask that you open your mind to new beginnings.
